In het artikel staan twee zaken die reactie behoeven....... De eerste is de omgekeerde Calimero Discussie en de tweede is de Grote Suggestie. De omgekeerde Calimero Discussie - "Zij zijn klein en ik is groot, en dat is niet eerlijk" – zal, zeker op deze manier, tot verdere controverses in de sector gaan leiden. De Grote Suggestie is dat ‘klein’ – met verder onbekende definitie – amateuristisch is en ‘groot’ – wat dat ook mag zijn - professioneel…. Lees meer>>
U had natuurlijk al gelezen over Google Earth, het Holocaust Museum en Darfur....

Zonder af te willen doen aan de noodzaak van aandacht voor Darfur en zonder er snel aan voorbij te willen gaan, hierbij toch even de mogelijkheden van Google Maps en Google Earth voor 'kleinere toepassingen':

Africa is home to only 6% of the world’s population aged over 65, but 13% of the total global population."

In november 2006 hebben we Sauri ook bezocht.
Het is dit soort aandacht dat Sauri tot een succes zal maken.
Of het elders zonder de beschikbare middelen en media aandacht gaat lukken blijft de vraag. Ook wij blijven ons best doen.....in dezelfde regio. Maar het is als kleine NGO in samenwerking met onbekende lokale partijen minder makkelijk om lokale en regionale overheden, organisaties en bedrijven tot actie te bewegen.
Ofwel; kunnen er makkelijk kopieerbare 'sjablonen' gemaakt worden ?
Jaarlijks overlijden meer dan een miljoen mensen aan malaria. Het overgrote deel van de slachtoffers zijn kinderen. ‘Oude medicijnen hebben de afgelopen decennia hun werking verloren’, zegt Kenneth Arrow (Nobelprijswinnaar in de economie en bedenker van het plan). De malariamug is daartegen resistent geworden.
Een nieuw medicijn bestaat inmiddels, maar dat is minstens tien tot twintig keer zo duur. In Kenia moeten mensen bijna vijf dagen werken om een behandeling met het nieuwe medicijn tegen malaria te betalen...
Een nieuw fonds moet het prijsverschil tussen het oude en het nieuwe medicijn gaan vergoeden. Lees hier het hele artikel in de Volkskrant.
